How to be a co-participant with God in helping leaders emerge
The question that drove my original research was why do some leaders form others and some don’t. I would observe over the years that some of our leaders in our ministry brought in new leaders and others complained that there was no one to take their place, no new leaders emerged. That question drove me to study in depth the Latin American culture and I discovered that certain cultural dimensions hinder and others help leaders to form other leaders. I was also able to come to serve all key processes by which the testimonies of the leaders I interviewed emerged and grew once they became leaders. One of the discoveries was that most of them emerged when they were still in their teenage years. These two workshops will help you reflect on your own emergence and growth as a leader as well as challenge you to consider the relevance of how God worked in the developing world country of Honduras and other countries in Latin America to see the similarities for your own cultural context. The workshop will be practical and offer several how to principles that can be applied in your own ministry context. Each booklet will provide questions for your ministry team to analyze your own context and apply what’s helpful to you.

Application of the Research Project “Advancing Christian Practices of Leadership Formation among Eurasian Teens and Youth”
Through its research work Hodos Institute developed the integral approach that reflect the main themes and practices of the leadership formation among adolescents. One of the main outcomes of the research is that Church Bible Study Programs and Christian camps have been named as two best factors over the past 30 years of leadership development among young people in the churches.

7 Nov, Day 3

9:00 — 10:30 (UTC)

Transformational Leadership
Transformed leaders lead from their communion with the Lord, where they move from Preforming to Being. We look at self-leadership and ask ourselves who am I when I am not leading. The focus is on self and our communion through solitude. Doing things WITH God not just for God.

Key components that should be included in every training program
Referencing the research I did for my dissertation on how leaders grow, I discovered that whereas training courses were not mentioned as a means that God used to help leaders emerge, it was mentioned as a means that God used to help leaders grow. However, certain elements need to be provided as part of the training course. These elements are the ones that I will be teaching on.
